Bec began her musical studies in classical music, training in classical
voice and piano for 15 years, before branching out into Jazz and Blues.
Bec discovered Barbershop while studying for a Bachelor of Education at Charles
Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, NSW. She sang lead and later bass with
Murrumbidgee Magic Chorus and had her first experience of quartetting in The
Vibe.
It was in Wagga that Bec also founded and began directing her first Men's
Chorus, The Bidgeemen Chorus. In 2009 The Bidgeemen combined with The
Canberra Chordsmen to compete at the Hobart Convention as The Hume Highwaymen,
where with only 4 joint rehearsals the chorus placed 4th in the small chorus
division.
Since moving to Perth, Bec joined A Cappella West Chorus, singing Lead and has
since accepted an Assistant Directorship to this chorus. She is also
the lead for iCappella Quartet, who were gold medal winners in the 2011 Sweet Adelines
Region 34 competition. She is the Lead/Bari in the Western Region Champion Mixed
Quartet, Guys and Dolls.
In 2011 Bec is excited to accept the position of Director for Men In Harmony
and is looking forward to working with the men in this wonderful chorus to help
them achieve their dreams as they head towards Brisbane in September. |
